What I Want to Know

Why do some people think that a few sessions with a psychiatrist are better than a few sessions with a horse?
Why do the same people think that horses should not be used in rehabilitation programs?
How can a horse help with rehabilitation?
How much more effective can using horses be that using psychiatrists?
What kind of people would horse therapy be more effective with?

Equine Therapy: The Story Behind My Topic

I chose this topic because I wanted to do something with horses. My life revolves around them and I want to know why some people think that a few sessions with a psychiatrist are better than using horses for therapy. I mean, yeah they can not talk, but at least they listen.

What I Know...

Horses have been used in rehabilitation programs for children and adults. They have been used for people with mental disabilities, that have come from an abusive family, have been in an accident, or just need help. They are massive animals that have a 6th sense we as people don't have. They can sense when a child or adult is scared of them because they will act calm, yet try to control what happens. They also sense if there is something mentally wrong with someone because they will  'protect' them or act completely different. Horses listen better than people because they don't talk back when you state your opinion, they don't give you the silent treatment just because your different, and they are always there to listen to you when you need to talk; even though it may sound x a little crazy.
